How to Balance Your Chakras
Last week on our Yogi Bare blog we talked about ‘What Is a Chakra and How Do They Work?’. This topic is something we have all probably heard being talked about at our weekly yoga classes, or being discussed amongst yogi’s but what is a chakra really? What happens when they fall out of balance? And how can you rebalance your chakras?

What is a Chakra?
Chakra means “wheel” in Sanskrit, and refers to the ever turning wheels of energy that run up the length of each of our spines, through to our perineum at the top of our head. Each of these wheels has a specific function that regulates a different part of our bodily functions within, helping us to maintain our physical and emotional health and well-being.
The seven chakras are the Root Chakra (Muladhara), Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana), Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura), Heart Chakra (Anahata), Throat Chakra (Vishuddha), Third-Eye Chakra (Ajna) and Crown Chakra (Sahasrara). How to balance your chakras
When each of these 7 chakras are in balance and working harmoniously, you will feel well in yourself both physically and emotionally. Your energy from within will attract people, abundance, opportunities and will be operating at their highest frequency. However, when they fall out of balance or become blocked, our immune system can become weakened and we therefore are more susceptible to disease and poor health.
So with this in mind, how do you balance and unblock your chakras?
1. Be knowledgeable about chakras
The first step in balancing your chakras is being knowledgeable and aware of oneself. For example, if you are experiencing a sore throat and struggling to vocalise your feelings and struggling to communicate, then you know that this is your throat chakra that is blocked and needs realigning.
2. Yoga practice realign your energy
If you are experiencing a disconnection with yourself and your surroundings, with the world feeling a little chaotic and ‘all over the place’, this could be another symptom of blocked chakras. Incorporating yoga regularly into your routine can help to transfer energy in your body, even after practice has finished. When settling into certain poses and through deep breathing, you will be encouraging fresh, vital energy into your body, and releasing negative or blocked energy.

3. Practice visualisation
Visualisation is a powerful way of manifesting positive change in your inner chakras and translating this into positive change in your external surroundings. Practice visualising who you desire to be and what you want out of life. Through incorporating this practice into your daily rituals, you will be creating an emotional response which in turn changes the vibration of your chakras. These positive vibrations will align themselves with your desires, dreams and hopes for yourself, and will manifest themselves into the physical world.
4. Bring balance to all areas of your life
Blocked chakras and negative energy can also work the other way around. If your life is a little chaotic and out of whack, your chakras will be too. To maintain balance and fill your inner self with positive energy, examine the energetic patterns of each aspect of your life including money, relationships and eating. Seek overall well-being, balance and positivity by making small changes until you feel yourself becoming more balanced.
